Rapper, Teacher, Hero…

Everyone knows and loves Mega Ran, the emcee who has a love of video games, cosplay, and wrestling. After such a successful year with new music, touring and continuous appearances at events, Mega Ran shares his Top Wrestling Matches of 2017.
This year was a great year for feuds and return matches- most of the best matches of the year were epic showdowns with great storytelling. So here are the Mat Mania Podcast’s Top matches of 2017.

Kenny Omega vs Kazuchika Okada (pick one, honestly)
Omega and Okada turned in one of the best matches ever in wrestling history at Wrestle Kingdom in January, and then proceeded to do it two more times, in June at Dominion and in August at the G1 Climax. These two can fight forever.
Finn Balor vs AJ Styles (WWE TLC)
The match we never thought we’d get, comes to us thanks to a viral meningitis outbreak in the locker room. With top dog Roman Reigns off PPV and Finn without an opponent, we get a dream match on paper, that absolutely delivered. Can’t wait till these guys do it again with higher stakes.

New Day vs Usos (pick one: SummerSlam, SmackDown [Vegas Street Fight] or Hell in a Cell)
The New Day and Usos absolutely bring the best out of each other and can be counted on to constantly raise the bar. A tag team match IN Hell in A Cell has never been done before but these guys did it to perfection. Constantly a threat to steal the show.

Hardy Boyz vs Young Bucks ladder match (ROH Supershow)
This one was built up so well and the guys delivered. The Hardyz put on a gutsy performance, going 35 minutes with the Bucks despite being 10 and 13 years older. And who could’ve predicted the Hardyz swerving us all by appearing the next day at Wrestlemania and WINNING the Tag Titles?! Unreal.

AJ Styles vs John Cena (Royal Rumble)
Dream match. Delivered. AJ and Cena is a matchup I wish happened every 4 months just to shut the smarks up about how Cena is washed and holds down talent. Both these guys are 40+ and arguably still the 2 best workers in the company. Epic match.

AJ Styles vs Brock Lesnar (Survivor Series)
I couldn’t believe it happened. But it did. AJ Styles came so close to beating the beast, but was eventually overcome. But.. Brock actually sold for the guy. He limped out of the arena a bruised champion. Unbelievable match, again unfortunately for no stakes. I’d love to see this again with a title on the line.
Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe vs Braun Strowman (SummerSlam)
I was at this match. And the crowd stood for the entire match. I don’t see that too often. Right off the bat the action was intense and made up for a way-too-long show with a smashmouth affair. Again, the Beast was battered but came out victorious. Brock taking a table bump is always shocking, Samoa Joe proves he can hang with the big boys, and Braun’s monster status is solidified.

Aleister Black vs Velveteen Dream (NXT TakeOver: WarGames)
Psychology to the maximum in this one. Both guys are extremely intriguing cats who I see running the business in 4  to 5 years. Talk about telling a story. Velveteen was made on this evening. Can’t wait to see more.
