Song Premiere: Sadbox, "Dnah Dnah"

For 10 years, guitarist and singer Paul Levy occasionally played his songs to the spiders and pill bugs in the basement. Professional training and a fast growing family sidelined music and art and relegated it to the cool dampness of the cellar. In a life prior, Paul and fellow guitarist Eli Alban (also of The 1984 Draft) played together in a fleeting project under the moniker Sundowning. It was this collaboration that sparked the eventual creation of Sadbox with the addition of Ryan Goudy on bass and Ray Owens on drums, who were both on the artistic sidelines in recent years.

The band wasted little time crafting a sound and cutting their teeth on Paul’s latest, and a few of his oldest, compositions. Sadbox played shows with Extra Arms, Frontier Folk Nebraska, Moonbeau, and more in short order. After having 10 originals and counting the band enlisted Daytonian extraordinaire, Patrick Himes at Reel Love Studio to capture the essence of what Sadbox was sitting out to create, ’90s tinted rock and roll that can be equal parts quirky, catchy, dynamic, and downright fun.

The debut album, The Magic Nothing, is set for release on June 28, 2019. The album was engineered and mixed by Patrick Himes and mastered by Alex Mccullough of True East Mastering. Album artwork for, The Magic Nothing, is courtesy of Gregory Tobias and Chris Wright.
