Undaunted by the limits of sound, Mustardmind construct driving art-rock that’s been experimental at the highest levels. Established by Bobby Lewis, the Williamsburg, Brooklyn-based band released the EP Peep back in 2016. The six-tracks established the unit within NYC, attracting praise from several outlets.
Touring around the northeast and logging sets around the boroughs, Mustardmind dropped a new EP in 2018 and dropped a pair of tracks, “Bad Juju” and “Saving Face.” They have a new EP, Modern Evil which they are self-releasing August 30th. Today, Mustardmind are premiering the latest single “Docent.” Throughout the arresting voyage, “Docent” offers up a tense vibe, yet it also moves with a smoothness. “This song is an exhausted lament over the many paths life can have for you and wishing someone in the know could just make decisions for you. The EP deals with themes of struggle, internal and external, and this song is apt because it’s about wanting an external solution for an internal problem,” Lewis says in regards to the new single.
