The current state of commercial hip-hop has never been fully examined in the way that Coolzey showcases in the clever single “Tough Guy”.
Today, Ghettoblaster is proud to premiere the Midwestern abstract emcee’s song, coming off from the forthcoming Coolsay Too.
Released this Friday (April 21st) via Public School Records, the EP falls along the line between lounge-rap, nerdcore, and slap-stick comedy. Soce The Elemental Wizard has once again joined Coolzey (real name is Zachary Eli Lint) to produce Coolsay Too, with guests that include DJ Douggpound (who also writes for the television shows Tim & Eric and Portlandia).
Following a childhood obsession with another comedy/musician ‘Weird’ Al Yankovic, Coolzey’s devotion to hip-hop, rap, along with other genres has pushed him to push the boundaries of songwriting. Not only has Coolzey shared the stage with Brand Nubian and Jurassic 5, but he also has performed with punk rockers Dead Milkmen. Besides what hip-hop is today, other topics in Coolsay Too include the impending zombie apocalypse, job interviews, and the crippling addiction to literature.
