Song Premiere | Oceans in the Sky, “Ghost”

Tomorrow, New York City’s Oceans in the Sky (formerly known as Mugen) releases the single “Ghost” on all platforms via Heading East Records. Heading East Records is the new label of Fred Mascherino, known for his vocals and guitar in Taking Back Sunday and The Color Fred. This is the third song to be released from Oceans in the Sky’s forthcoming debut album, Parallels, which sees release in January.

“Ghost” was written and produced by Oceans in the Sky, the chosen moniker of songwriter Liam Frost, shortly after he moved to Taipei. According to Frost, he was consumed by insomnia and loneliness, and “Ghost” poured out of him, with spiteful lyrics about a failed romance.

“Ghost” offers additional production by Jon Markson (Drug Church) and Brothertiger. It was mixed by Markson and mastered by Brian Lucey (Green Day, Post Malone).

Massive rock drums, J-pop and French Touch-inspired dance hooks and synths buzz soar throughout, with a seething emo chorus and a blazing guitar solo, making for a true sonic adventure. A pretty twinkly guitar outro hints at what’s to come.
