She-Rōze traces back the source of her tenacity to her Filipino roots with her new single “Tinikling.” She follows up her message of personal resilience on her first single “Hold Me Down” by tracing back the source of her tenacity to her Filipino roots. She peels back the layers of culture and history to reveal the unquenchable fiery spirit of her Visayan ancestors on “Tinikling.” The infectiously bass-heavy beat gilded with traditional Filipino percussions is produced by BBoy Wicket. It feels indulgent and it’s dripped in the cunning character of She-Rōze’s lyrics and the allure of her unique tone. Rae Rae from the Filipino Hip Hop duo Balisong rounds out the track with an extra dose of rawness and soul. The track goes hard while its artistry establishes She-Rōze in a lane of her own.
“Something I love about Hip Hop is how it is an open canvas for us to share our cultural experiences in a way that unifies us across cultures as much as it empowers us to celebrate our unique origins,” she says. “Tinikling is about overcoming oppression and showing resilience in unexpected ways and claiming our legacy with unapologetic pride.”
Proceeds from the album will go to various community organizations She-Rōze partners with as well as her own women-led non-profit organization, the Shero Collective, which is dedicated to empowering the hip hop and BIPOC communities everywhere through arts & culture advocacy, mentorship and career development resources, as well as community insights and professional consulting.
