Quiet Slang Hits The Road In Support Of New Album 'Everything Matters But No One Is Listening'

Beach Slang’s James Alex has taken a different approach to music with his Quiet Slang, with compiles quieter song renditions of his main gig, eschewing the loud instrumentation.  Last year Quiet Slang released the 4-song E.P. We Were Babies & We Were Dirtbags and now expand on those ideas with a new full-length album, Everything Matters But No One Is Listening out May 18, 2018 (Polyvinyl). Alex linked up with longtime co-producer Dave Downham for the album, who worked with him in bringing on cellist Dan Delaney and pianist Keith Giosa. Rounding out the crew were Stacey Downham, Matt Weber, Charlie Lowe and New Jersey quartet The Warhawks, who lent their voices to evoke what Alex describes as a “back alley choir.” For a taste of the forthcoming album, watch the “Dirty Cigarettes” video, directed by Jason Lester and featuring Laura Burhenn (Mynabirds) & Heather McIntosh (Elephant 6, of Montreal).
Referencing his side endeavor, James Alex states, “If Beach Slang is me fawning over The Replacements, Quiet Slang is me head-over-heels for Stephin Merritt.”
