One of the main rites of passage when growing up is the obsessive amount of time an individual spends at the mall.  Walking around with your friends, scoping out the hottest trends in the trendy stores, attempting to chat with the opposite sex.  The mall for a lot of teens is the epicenter of their lives.  For this writer, I was all about loitering around the music stores and hoping to score some rad tunes. 

Oakland’s own PARENTZ are recalling their days being mallrats with their latest single “Dead Mall.”  Full enriched in nostalgia, the single’s lyrics explore the freedom of hanging around with nothing else better to do.  Between the electro-pop/R&B instrumentals are brooding synth sound and smooth vocals.  “Dead Mall” has all the makings of a great 80s track for the summer.
