On The Road Again: Eric Harris of Gypsyhawk

Gypsyhawk

Gypsyhawk

Revisiting the electrifying sounds of bullshit-free ’70s rock, Pasedena, California’s Gypsyhawk provide a much needed respite from the onslaught of breakdown obsessed bands cluttering up heavy music. Marinating their wares in whiskey and weed, they hurl out blistering riffs and irresistible hooks and grooves, doing their damnedest to ensure that everyone at their shows is having as much fun as they are.
Ghettoblaster caught up with Gypsyhawk bassist/vocalist Eric Harris while the band were in the midst of a tour (sadly, it ended a couple days ago), to discuss how the band handles life on the road.  This is what he told us.
What kind of vehicle are you travelling in, and what are you doing to outfit it for maximum comfort?
A shitty ass beat to shit 2001 ford E350 sold to us by an even worse band. They fucked it up so bad that we did everything we could to just put in two bench seats, one in the back and one on the side. Limo style. Comfort will never reach a maximum level. Le sigh.
What is the planned playlist for your travels?
Anything and everything, as long as it has soul. Right now, lot of Altar Of Oblivion and Jerry Reed.
Which of the cities that you’ll be visiting are you most excited about and why?
Well, Toronto, Montreal and San Francisco fucking win. I am pretty stoked about Texarkana though. And Houston. And Austin.
Which of your destinations are you most anxious about?
None. We own this shit.
What are the top three essential, must-have items that you take on the road with you?
Brush, toothbrush, deodorant.
What will you miss most about home while you are away?
What’s “home”? I live on the road.
Do you keep a diary during your travels? If so, is it public? Can we share it?
No, I don’t. I’m supposed to be writing a “blog” though. You can read that periodically. It’s on our page.
What is the craziest thing you’ve seen on the road during this or other tours?
A shit ton of shameful ass mother fuckers dressed to the teeth as pirates.
