Lontalius Shares New Single “Right There”

New Zealand-based indie pop singer/songwriter Lontalius (a.k.a Eddie Johnston) releases new single “Right There” via Kartel Music Group. Produced by Jeff Kleinman (Beyoncé, Frank Ocean, FKA Twigs), the breezy track finds Lontalius apprehensively expressing his desire to show up for his partner over a flamenco-inspired drum loop. It’s at once both a love song and a reflection on the challenges of being vulnerable in new relationships.

“The song is about wanting to give someone absolutely everything you have, wanting to be there with them at any hour of the day,” shares Lontalius. “Jeff and I made this instrumental together, before I had any lyrics. It has this heartbreaking feel, like it’s so sweet you can’t quite bear it. ‘I’ll be right there, if you don’t mind’ was the first lyric that came to my head sitting there listening to it. Lontalius as a project, to me, has always been about finding a feeling and capturing it. Giving people, and myself, a little 3 minute piece of something that they can turn to when they need it.”

With over 110 million streams and 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify, Johnston has carved a spot for himself in the alt-pop space, releasing his first LP in 2016 at the age of 18. To date, he’s released four EPs and three albums, plus more EPs and many remixes as his electronic producer alter-ego Race Banyon. He’s earned fans across the world with his deeply relatable lyricism that combines his experience as a young queer person with the universal experience of growing up.
