Inkswel Shares Disco Anthem Single ”New Day”

Adelaide producer and DJ Inkswel introduces “New Day,” a boogie-infused disco anthem for dancefloors and boomboxes, featuring soul legend Kylie Auldist and House of Beigh MC N’fa Jones. “New Day” is the second single from Inswel’s The Snagglepuss project Chasing Infinity, a concept LP out May 13 via Cosmocities Records. The album features a star-studded guest list that takes us on a stylistic journey from hip-hop and g-funk to up-tempo broken beat, boogie, and house.

“New Day” is the jam of the day at the rollerdisco. Upbeat, yet not too fast for the rink, funky boogie bass by Melbourne’s Stephen Lane sets the vibe just right, while hand claps and tight beats take you straight to party mode. “We’ve found a  better way, it’s a better day” is the chorus hook sung by Kylie, emphasizing the uplifting and positive nature of the track. We go to the breakdown for N’fa’s iconic rhythmic feel, his verses painting the perfect party scenario. The track is joined by an edit from Slum Village member and Detroit House legend Dez Andrès (DJ Dez), taking things in a more uptempo house direction.

Adelaide born and raised Inkswel (Jules Habib) has spent much of the last two decades in the Northern Hemisphere DJing every party and club from Rhythm Section in London to Output in New York and released music on BBE, Atjazz and Sonar Kollektiv, among other labels. On the Snagglepuss material, he’s taken a more collaborative approach, and much of this record was co-created with Stephen on bass, Sloth on horns, and Inkswel’s partner, Erin Buku. Inskwel and the team’s genre-bending productions draw influence from P Funk, 80’s Pop, Boogie Funk, Classic 90’s Hip-Hop, and Contemporary Soul stitching it all together into a seamless, multi-colored package.
