Great Shapes, formed in 2013, is a Renegade Pop band from El Paso, Texas. Their upbeat sound, influenced stylistically by Post Punk and Indie Pop, is sure to get you up and moving. Great Shapes’ lyrics tackle themes that will hit you right in the feels: Love, heartbreak, changes, and the effect that time has on everything in between.
In their time spent on the road bringing their music to the masses, Great Shapes has had the distinct pleasure of playing CMJ 2015 and Neon Desert Music Festival. They’ve also played on tours across the country, sharing the stage with Deluxe, Moving Units, The Chain Gang of 1974, New Young Pony Club, Gardens & Villa, WILDCAT! WILDCAT!, and Stepdad.
This is the first offering from their upcoming album Brightness. The album was recorded in their hometown by Justin Leeah at Sound + Vision Studios (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, At the Drive-In, Conor O’berst). Some additional recording was done by Manuel Calderon at Sonic Ranch in Tornillo, TX (Beach House, Potugal. The Man). The album was mastered by, Grammy Award winner, Joe LaPorta in New York City, NY (David Bowie, Twin Shadow, The Killers, Foo Fighters). Great Shapes have announced a fall tour, kicking off in their home state later this month.
