“After the release of our second album This Place we were very quickly fine tuning our sound,” guitarist Gary Thornton recalls.  “We had already written several songs for the new album. We spent a few months recording and picking our favorite songs for Control. We were fortunate to have several musicians who wanted to be part of the album.  So the producer list is fairly large.  In the end, this album is exactly what we were looking for.”

Influenced by acts like Slowdive, Radiohead, Interpol, and Massive Attack, GoodnightGoodnight’s tremendous, cinematic sound is one that is all their own.

“The message in our songs has always been one of hope and healing,” shares keyboardist Todd Herbert. “While the lyrics at times tend to seem dark and sad, they really possess an underlying layer of positivity.  The loss of a child, as I’ve experienced, as well as the loss of many friends has led us in the direction of healing and moving forward in honor of those that we have lost.”

According to GoodnightGoodnight, the band makes the music that they want to hear. Their earnest approach and desire to share their music has lead to several regional tours to NYC, Chicago, Kalamazoo, Virginia Beach, etc. and coveted spots in support of Hawthorne Heights, The Receiver (Kpop) and Feral Conservatives (Egghunt Records).

“Our goal is to get this album out to as many people as possible this year,” admits vocalist Amanda Thornton. “We will be touring in late Spring and Summer to support [the record].  The three of us are at a point in our lives where we can do this, have a great time, and not worry about the silly things in life.  This is our release and escape.  I hope it can be that for others as well.”
