Fran, the newest artist on stalwart Brooklyn indie label Fire Talk Records, has shared the third single “In My Own Time” from their debut album A Private Picture today. The last single is a plodding refrain, inspired by Karen Dalton, about giving yourself space to discover what exactly it means for one to grow, to move on and find what’s needed.
Speaking to the track Fran’s lead guitarist and songwriter Maria Jacobson says; “It takes each of us exactly as long as it will take each of us to see the truth, to know what we should do. Maybe that’s getting out of a bad relationship or into a good one. We are on our own timeline; no one can make those decisions for us. The title/lyrics were inspired by the Karen Dalton record of the same name. I like the idea of a woman taking just as long as she needs.”
