Don’t call it a comeback but producer Blockhead returns with The Art Of The Sample LP (Young Heavy Souls) out on limited vinyl July 6. This new release though isn’t what many may expect from the prolific Hip-Hop producer. He was given access to sample De Wolf’s music library, which is a library that’s been doing music for film, radio, and television for close to 100 years.
According to the artist, “These are not typical Blockhead songs. They’re more stripped down and focused for the purpose of being used in TV and film.” He adds, “They make original music that gets plugged into all sorts of things and has been heard around the world. If you’re a producer, you have very likely sampled them and not even realized it. I was fortunate enough for them to allow me to make an album entirely out of their back catalogue.” A sample of the album can be heard below.
