Alice Sandahl Drops New Album

For the past 16 years, Alice Sandahl has been carving a unique sonic path, transforming her academic background and years on the road into a sound that is wholly her own. Her journey began with classical training in college and blossomed into her role as a founding member of the acclaimed rock band La Luz. Over the last decade, she has released four albums on the respected indie label Hardly Art, collaborated with visionaries like Ty Segall and Dan Auerbach, and spent countless hours touring—collecting stories, songs, and hard-won perspective along the way. The latest solo album from Alice Sandahl (La Luz) leans into bright hooks, shimmering synths, and emotionally rich songwriting. A mix of infectious pop melodies and reflective ballads, Hologram is a confident evolution—playful, poignant, and unmistakably hers.

Hologram is also a colorful, soulful love letter to the broken heart. Intimately and delicately, it reflects on healing, hope, and growth after heartbreak. Tender words are carried effortlessly on buttery vocals, charming piano phrases cascade like flecks of light, and dreamlike interludes sparkle and soothe between verses. Lead single “Broken Baby” stands out as a lighthearted jaunt that wouldn’t be out of place in an indie coming-of-age film.

It’s bold, electrifying, yet soft. In these songs, the listener is gently called to consider the innocence of past selves, and the wisdom that comes with experience. Hologram is sweet brown sugar on any lover’s tongue.
