Album Premiere | The Right Here, ‘Northern Town’

Rum Bar Records releases the new full length from The Right Here, Northern Town on October 22.  The record is sure to capture the discerning attention of fans of The Replacements, The Gaslight Anthem, Lucero, John Prine, The Lawrence Arms, and Roger Miller.

“We wanted this record to tell the story, both musically and lyrically, of life up here in Anywhere North, USA. While most of these songs were written prior to the global pandemic, the themes of isolation and loss are even more salient in our new, chaotic world. Northern Town represents our best attempt so far at capturing the tug of war between comfort and restlessness, home and the road, leavin’, and stayin’,” the band says.
Pre-order the album here.

For those unfamiliar with The Right Here (TRH), TRH has roots in American twang, punk rock and offers the same Minneapolis grit exhibited by forefathers The Replacements and Husker Du. Forming in 2010, The Right Here has released two full-length albums and an acoustic/b-sides record on RumBar and Throwing Things Records. TRH has toured the U.S. and Canada, including playing several notable festivals including The Fest, Pouzza Fest, Big Turn Music Fest, Dude’s Weekend, and One Last Party. They’ve shared the stage with Americana/indie stalwarts Drag the River, Two Cow Garage, Arliss Nancy, Tim Barry, Cory Branan, Dave Hause, Brent Best as well punk bands like Masked Intruder, Banner Pilot, Swingin’ Utters, Sincere Engineer, A WilhelmS cream, Direct Hit!,  Drivin’ N Cryin’, and Red City Radio.

Northern Town was recorded and mixed in 2019 and 2020 by Andy Mathison (Slow Death, Remo Drive) at Immortal Audio and Treespeak Studios in Minneapolis and Columbia Heights, Minnesota. The record was mastered by Jakob Braun (Little Teeth, Dollars for Deadbeats) and features artwork from Joe Maiocco (Benchmarks, Mathew Ryan). The album also features guest vocals from Cory Call (Arliss Nancy, Little Teeth), Micah Schnabel (Two Cow Garage), and of Todd Farrell (Benchmarks).

Today, Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of offering an early stream of the album, which you can enjoy below.

The band has scheduled a release show for the album Friday, November 12 at Part Wolf with Lutheran Heat, Permanent Residue (Chicago), and Loss Leader.
