Oakland, California’s Field of Fear started out in 2018 as a dark experimental drone/noise project, and over the years transformed into a punishing and unsettling Doom’n’Gloom outfit.
Evolving from the project’s ambient drone roots, the band’s forthcoming effort shifts to guitar-driven tracks with a pop sensibility, while maintaining the apocalyptic soundscapes and industrial edge that is the throughline for its discography.
The band’s terrifying new album, Scorpion, occupies a space somewhere between dark western rock and metal, and sees release via Transylvanian Recordings on June 12.
“On the concept album Scorpion, [we provide] the soundtrack to the story of a man on the run from the dark and the wicked,” explains the band.
