Nashville indie punks Dad Hats recently announced they will release their second full-length, Spill, on February 17, 2023 (Mind Over Matter Records), which can be pre-saved here and the band has just released the video for the album’s second single, “Fastest Man Alive.”
“’Fastest Man Alive’ is a story about that type of person that everybody has in their lives. That person who was born on third and thinks they hit triple, who never takes the blame for anything. Whenever the consequences of his actions come, it’s never our protagonist’s fault,” says vocalist Craig Turner. “Of course not. He’s six foot five. He’s the fastest man alive. He just can’t catch a break, that’s all.
“Hypothetically, if he accidentally shot himself in the leg in a nightclub with a gun he holstered in his pants? That wasn’t on him. It’s on the gun manufacturer for making the safety not work correctly. Car ran out of gas? No, no, the car maker obviously made the tank too small.
“Oh to be the fastest man alive who never did anything wrong,” Turner laments.
