Philly-raised, West Coast-based rock & roll songsmith Mondo Cozmo (aka Josh Ostrander) shares “Meant for Livin’” today, which follows his funk-driven, jubilant track “Feel Good.” The song is the second single from his third full length album due later this year, and is a modern day spin on the music he was raised on by iconic musicians, lyricists and everyday men like Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen. “This is the first song that I wrote when the pandemic hit, with the lyrics reading as a practical guide for successful living,” notes Ostrander.
In addition to the track, Mondo Cozmo shares this vibrant hybrid live action / stop motion animation lyric video. Written by Ostrander’s frequent collaborator Tyson Mason, and directed by Travis Shinn who brought in visual artist Chloe Fleury for the paper art and animation, the video was shot over two days in Los Angeles in December of 2020 with Ostraner noting, “…it was a blast to do. Hope you enjoy it.”
Mondo Cozmo’s upcoming album follows his sophomore album New Medicine, which was released in June 2020 and featured the singles “Come On” and “Black Cadillac.” The album was aided and abetted by friends and family – including producer Butch Vig, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Dan Wilson, Lars Stalforsand others – and followed his 2017 full-length debut, Plastic Soul, which boasted the #1 single “Shine.” In addition to performing everywhere from Lollapalooza to Bonnaroo, toured alongside Bastille and Spoon, and opened for Muse. Dan Reynolds of Imagine Dragons joined him for a live duet on The Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony,” while Anna Faris starred in the videos for “Hold On To Me” and “Come On,” and Paz de La Huerta starred in the video “Higher.”
