Grown Unknown would have been better had there been a video companion piece. The music is a haunting mix of folk and chamber sing-song. It’s dark, slow, and dreamy. At times, though, it comes off to me as somewhat unmemorable. The solid tracks, title track and “New Myth” included, are worth the listen. The problem is that there’s just too much filler as opposed to killer. Fans of Nina Nastasia and Tara Jane O’Neil will want to check this out. The positive comparisons are a great many. (Jagjaguwar)
