One year ago, we all saw the release of GRAPES, it was the latest offering by Nashville musician/emcee Spoken Nerd fully produced by Cincinnati beatmaker Juan Cosby. While both artists may live in different locales, music in the 21st Century has become easier for collaborations to come to fruition and life has become simpler rather than complex. Of the album, someone once said, “It’s idiosyncratic, it’s dark, it’s heavy; it’s the culmination of a number of emotions that plays to the strength of both artists.” Oh yeah, that was me.
Fortunately, the album wasn’t released digitally only, the project was given proper vinyl treatment by the indie hip-hop label, Audio Recon. Both Spoken Nerd & Juan Cosby decided to celebrate the one-year anniversary of this release with a music video for the lead single, “Bad Coffee.” The video was directed by Sophie Koorhan and tells the story of a man who just needed a decent cup of coffee. The result is a hilarious reel full of visual banter between the duo. The video may seem a bit tongue-in-cheek but everyone’s been there, well, those that drink coffee anyway.
