Having sold over 40,000 copies of her five albums, Megan Slankard (along with her band) is set to drop her latest effort in October. Co-Produced with producer Alex Wong, (Delta Rae, Vienna Teng, Elizabeth & The Catapult), the album will showcase new sides of Megan’s music; balancing delightfully belligerent rock and roll with cinematic soundscapes of orchestral instruments and robot harmonies. In honor of the new album, Slankard has shared “Magical Thinking.”
Slankard says on the track, “When I wrote this song, I was in the middle of a relationship where I felt I was disappearing, fearful and unable to express my feelings. Some days the only way I could write songs was to imagine myself as someone else. In my songs I could transform myself into a powerful, commanding, and confident character that was larger than life. She was like my own personal super hero who helped me get through difficult times.
In this video, director Dan Foldes, choreographer Cassidy Isaacson and I wanted to create a dream-like scenario where my Muses pull me into their world. Dancing around me, they remind me that they are all a part of who I am.”
Before the pandemic brought everything to a halt, Megan performed 100-150 shows a year across the country including, more recently, 50-show Guitar Center tour with BOSE, a bio-coastal songwriter tour with Alex Wong, and a 30-date, cross-country tour with Toad the Wet Sprocket. Her song writing has received national and international recognition.
