Foot Ox is an experimental, and somewhat psychedelic, folk band from Portland, Oregon. The music and lyrics are inspired by dreams, deal with love, death, adventure, heartbreak, and fear, and offer indirect and abstract imagery. Subtle orchestration gives the impression of Intimacy even while playing in front of large crowds. The sound swings from driving, upbeat, full-band arrangements to sparse, quiet, and emotional moments of vulnerability.
Today, Foot Ox releases new single and music video for “Colorado’s Dead.” The song explores darkness and redemption, and other contradictory emotions, through a landscape of abstract images. It is very reminiscent of early 1970s folk, but with darker and stranger undertones. AJJ’s Sean Bonnette lends backup vocals
Foot Ox is releasing a new album, Judee and the Sun (Lavasocks Records), on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. Pre-order it here.
