There are a multitude of groups throughout the country we all probably don’t know about. Hundreds, even thousands of bands waiting for someone to take notice. In all honesty, many will break up due to creative differences, some will fall into complete obscurity, and then there are the few that may just linger in the back recesses of our minds that continue to record infectious pop songs that stand the test of time.
Enter: Bad Tiger, the San Francisco outfit led by vocalist/guitarist Yasi Lowy, with guitar/synth player David Garges, bassist Tyler Gholson, and drummer Jacob Sherfield. For the past few years, the band has been recording and releasing inventive songs filled with clever melodies, thundering rhythms, and childlike abandon. Earlier this year the group released the 5-song E.P. Sanctuary, although brief, a bountiful effort storm-filled with the band’s identity. A release that enables listeners the ability to become one with the group, allowing them to feel as if they’re communicating directly. Today the band shares the video for its new single for the bouncy rhythmic “Like This,” which elevates the group’s musical intentions this time around. The video’s energy seems to match the band’s musical vigor. Of the new single, the band offers:
“Like This” is the first song Bad Tiger recorded as a full band– we went into the studio with just Yasi’s rhythm guitar and vocal parts written, and everyone came in with some ideas and developed their parts for the rest of the song. As such, it feels like a big turning point for us as a band, being able to grow off of the diversity of 3 more people’s instincts, skills, feedback, and really build something together. I am so, SO stoked with how it turned out.
