Providence, RI punk quartet Structure Sounds are set to release its new covers EP, Stolen Sounds (Wiretap Records), on September 19, 2025. The EP finds the band tearing into songs from an eclectic lineup of artists, putting their gritty punk stamp on tracks made popular by The Weeknd, Amy Winehouse, Bad Religion, Laura Jane Grace, and more.
The latest single, a searing rendition of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black,” arrives today all digital platforms, alongside a new official music video directed and edited by the band’s own Sean Patrick Carney.
“This was easily the most fun and challenging song we have taken on,” says Carney. “It would be impossible to replicate the style and delivery of Amy Winehouse’s voice, but I feel we brought something new out of her influence. The song’s angst and longing mixed with piss and vinegar fits our sound like a glove.”
“Back to Black” captures Structure Sounds’ raw energy and emotional punch, transforming Winehouse’s smoky soul into a cathartic punk confession without losing the original’s aching heart.
