Since its start in 2017, sadeyes has released a carefully crafted catalog of over two dozen singles and two EPs; downpour (2019), and GIRLS RULE (2018), all self-produced. As his name might suggest, sadeyes’ lyrics draw deeply from his personal experience with all facets of human emotion—and the trek he’s had that inspires his storytelling. Love, heartbreak, personal loss, and reprieve of mental health are themes common throughout his songs.
Epitaph Records welcomes sadeyes to the family. sadeyes is the creative persona of 21-year-old singer/writer/producer Nathan Lewis. The Portland, Oregon-based artist combines lo-fi, alternative, emo rap, and hyper-pop with confessional lyrics to create infectiously catchy hits.
sadeyes launched his new lo-fi hip-hop single “unexpected.” “’Unexpected’ is about the uncertainty of falling in love,” notes sadeyes. “It also deals with the struggle to understanding why we cling to good things when most good things come to an end.”
Along with the track, sadeyes shares the eye-catching and colorful music video directed by Max Moore (jxdn, nothing, nowhere., Cold Hart).
