Portland-based indie-pop duo New Constellations, lifelong friends Harlee Case and Josh Smith, return today with their latest single, the synth-pop-inspired “Dandelion.” Written during the same three-year stretch that shaped their upcoming full-length, It Comes in Waves (Nettwerk Records). “Dandelion” drifts between buoyant, synth-forward pop and aching vocals. The accompanying music video is a technicolor, dreamscape-inspired visual that finds Case channeling the song’s reflective, longing tone. The release offers another glimpse into their forthcoming debut album, It Comes In Waves, which drops on May 15, 2026.
“Dandelion is a tender, introspective song about love tested by doubt and emotional distance. The quiet push and pull between trust and self-protection. It captures the fragile moment when two people consciously separate yet remain deeply connected, holding space for vulnerability, longing, and the hope that love can still find its way back.” — Harlee on “Dandelion”
The duo will join synth-pop heavyweights The Midnight this spring on a major North American tour, bringing their immersive live set to marquee rooms including Brooklyn Paramount in New York, 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, House of Blues in Boston, The Salt Shed in Chicago, Paramount Theatre in Seattle, and more. Several dates are already sold out including Orlando, Washington, DC (night one), and Brooklyn, with the run culminating in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Palladium on May 15, the same day It Comes In Waves is released. The tour marks New Constellations’ most high-profile national support slot to date, placing them in front of devoted synth-pop audiences as momentum builds toward their debut album.
Since announcing their debut album, the duo have also shared, “I Disappear,” a raw and introspective meditation on anxiety, self-doubt, and losing yourself inside your own thoughts. As well as “Believe Again,” a tender thank-you letter to Case’s younger self, and “Secret Safe,” a synth-driven ode to friendships that endure distance and time, help shape the emotional foundation of the album. At its core, It Comes In Waves is a document of growth, personal, creative, and relational, tracing the evolution of two Oregon teenagers recording songs in a childhood bedroom into one of indie pop’s most emotionally resonant partnerships.
The band has also been confirmed for this year’s BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley, CA May 22-24. For the complete lineup, please visit https://www.bottlerocknapavalley.com/.
