L.A. WITCH Shares Frigid “Icicle”

There’s a darkness that lurks beneath L.A. Witch‘s sun-drenched exterior, mimicking a duality that defines the band’s titular hometown. Their new single, “Icicle,” arrives ahead of the album  DOGGOD (Suicide Squeeze) out April 4, 2025. The single is out today. “Icicle” is one of L.A. WITCH’s darkest tracks to date, using an icicle as a metaphor for a purifying blade. “Icicle / Won’t you cleanse my soul / You’re sharp and cold / Purity, come make me bleed,” Sade Sanchez cooly intones over a bendy new wave instrumental. The single is accompanied by a flickering, horror movie-inspired music video, which lends an air of playfulness to the otherwise deadly serious song.

On the track, member Sade Sanchez shares: “’Icicle’ is our coldest song on this record, written during a very dark period in my life. The lyrics explore themes of purification through self-sacrifice. The icicle in this song is symbolic of a knife or dagger and also a bit crystal-like, symbolic of spiritual journey. The monotone vocal tone was my attempt to sing like a mix of Frank Sinatra and Ian Curtis.”
