Rising UK three-piece HotWax–vocalist/guitarist Tallulah Sim-Savage, bassist/vocalist Lola Sam, and drummer Alfie Sayers–today released a new single, “Rip It Out,” ahead of their debut EP A Thousand Times (Marathon Artists), out this Friday, May 19, 2023 available now for pre-save/pre-order.
“‘Rip It Out’ is the darkest song I have ever written. The lyrics came to me so fast, at a time I was feeling psychotic due to the contraceptive implant. I wanted to create a dramatic, theatrical, melancholic sounding piece, which Lola put together perfectly,” explains Sim-Savage. “I hope it resonates with women who have gone through a similar thing and raises awareness about how contraception needs to be updated.”
HotWax are ripping up the template and ripping up stages across the UK. Having only recently left school, their rarified live energy and sound has already won the support of Courtney Love, Nova Twins, Wolf Alice, Jack Saunders, John Kennedy, and Matt Wilkinson. The band harnesses the firepower of the grunge pioneers through songs armed with mighty choruses, and they possess the imaginative brilliance to stake out a new landscape in guitar music.
