Gina Birch has announced today’s long-awaited arrival of her debut solo album, I Play My Bass Loud (Third Man Records), available everywhere. Today’s release is celebrated with the premiere of the scintillating new single, “I Will Never Wear Stilettos,” joined by an official visualizer streaming now at YouTube. In addition, Birch will mark I Play My Bass Loud with a very special Q&A and track-by-track discussion of her new album, set for this Sunday, February 26 at 1:00 pm (ET) exclusively via the official Third Man Records YouTube channel HERE.
I Play My Bass Loud was initially heralded late last year with the propulsive first single, “Wish I Was You,” available now at all DSPs and streaming services. The track – co-written and co-produced by the legendary Youth and featuring guitar by longtime fan Thurston Moore – is accompanied by an official music video, directed by Gina’s filmmaker daughter Honey Birch and streaming now at YouTube. The album’s explosive title track, “I Play My Bass Loud” followed, featuring no less than five female bassists – including The Modettes’ Jane Crockford and Emily Elhaj (Angel Olsen) – and joined by an official music video directed by multi-talented musician/performer Vice Cooler with concept and choreography by Brontez Purnell.
