Fat Tony shares a new remix of his song “Ain’t For Me” by NYC beat-maker Blockhead. The remixed track is a masterful pairing of Blockhead’s signature hip-hop production with the lyrical punch we’ve come to know from Fat Tony. Along with the remix is a music video taken on a Super 8 camera during Fat Tony’s recent performance in Brooklyn at The Sultan Room.
Fat Tony wrote “Ain’t For Me” in the midst of a summer heatwave, the lyrics pouring out of him in what felt like one exhale. The track is about a Black American family who leaves home for another country.
A guy tweeted “How bout a @BlockheadNYC remix of @fattonyrap’s Gambling Man? Huh how bout it?”, and I love Blockhead’s production, so I chimed in. Blockhead and I started chatting. Found out we’re both named Tony, and it was on. I sent him “Ain’t for Me,” he said the song was great, and a day later, he had a remix. Can you believe that? Who works that fast? Blockhead crazy. – Fat Tony
