Desert Liminal Shares “No One To Wait For”

The second single, “No One to Wait For” from Desert Liminal’s upcoming Black Ocean LP is out today and available to be shared widely. “No One To Wait For” has everything we love from Desert Liminal – Sarah Quillin’s stirring melodic sensibilities and breathy vocals, Rob Logan’s booming percussion, and Mallory Linehan’s soaring backing vocals and resonant violin lines. The second offering from their upcoming LP comes with a beautiful video by Alana Wool – the Denver-based video artist whose work with Midwife has drawn critical acclaim.

Desert Liminal’s newest LP Black Ocean (Whited Sepulchre Records), out this October, is a follow-up to its critically acclaimed Glass Fate which will also be re-issued now. Black Ocean represents a major step forward for the band in almost every way. Glass Fate found the musical partnership of Sarah Quillin and Rob Logan to include violinist and multi-instrumentalist Mallory Linehan (Whited Sepulchre is also releasing her solo album K under the moniker Chelsea Bridge). Now a firmly established trio, Linehan and Quillin’s musical collaboration as joint songwriters and vocalists take center stage.

Much like Glass FateBlack Ocean is inspired by periods of great transition. Black Ocean centers on how the isolating process of death and grief can be shared, transmuted, and carried communally through the process of sharing art and community among her wide network of friends and peers in the Chicago DIY network. While DIY politically and ethically, production on Black Ocean is crystal clear and professionally tailored – reflective of the years of work the trio took to work out these songs.

Bolstered by a successful European / UK tour with Chicago DIY heroes DEHD, Black Ocean is a high watermark for this long-running act.
