There Is No Feeling Better, the fourth album from Bloomington, Indiana’s Mike Adams At His Honest Weight sees release via Joyful Noise. The album follows his previous releases 2011’s Oscillate Wisely, the playful experimentalism of 2014’s Best of Boiler Room Classics, and the gigantic melodies of 2016’s Casino Drone.
Whereas past albums were mostly recorded by Adams on his own, There Is No Feeling Better was built, slowly and over the course of a couple years, with longtime collaborators and members of the Honest Weight touring crew. Though Adams plays plenty on the album, providing guitar, keys, bass, and vocals, it’s the least he’s ever played on an Honest Weight album.
Today, Ghettoblaster has the pleasure of premiering the lyric video for ’70s A.M. Gold- inspired future classic “Wonderful To Love.” This is what Mike had to say about it:
“My friend Sarah is a counselor and I’ve heard her suggest an exercise where you imagine holding your childhood self to the same critical standards that you force upon yourself today. It’s an hilarious contrast, and it can really let you off the hook emotionally, sometimes. I’m being pretty hard on myself with this song, but I hope that pairing it with these old home movies that my parents recently rediscovered will take the edge off a little bit. For me, it’s a nice reminder that I’m a collection of habits, and not a manufactured home.”
