Eric San is a man that wears many hats: musician, graphic novelist, but most notably DJ/turntablist visionary, where his unusual use of samples draws the attention of other like-minded individuals who are willing to challenge listeners with original artistry. Now with 6 albums now under his belt and a handful of E.P.s, Kid Koala has established himself as an artist with much to say within the context of his music. His contribution and assistance on projects like Gorillaz, Deltron 3030, Lovage, Peeping Tom, and many more, only accentuate that fact.
Back in 2017 Kid Koala released Music To Draw To: Satellite, a collaborative album with Icelandic singer Emilíana Torrini, this year he’s set to drop his new album Music To Draw To: lo (Arts & Crafts) on January 25, 2019. This time around though, singer/multi-instrumentalist Trixie Whitley is tapped in for the assist. In anticipation of the new album, Kid Koala and Trixie Whitley share the new video for the single “Lost At Sea.”
Of the track and video, San offers,“This is a song for travelers. Karina Bleau’s kinetic use of light in this video really captures that motion. She creates her effects in a real time, analog way. I think it fits the tone of the track beautifully.” And we have to agree. The crystalline imagery, watery softness, and expansive skylines juxtaposed against the delicate sounds blend and blur magically against one another.
