Statik Selektah just dropped the new video for “No. 8,” which you can consider the title track to 8, his eighth album, on his own label Showoff Records with Duck Down Music Inc., which is set to drop on December 8, 2017. The video starts off with footage of a real shooting in Buffalo that took place while recording rapper Conway’s scene. Where most would wrap things up after hearing gun shots pop off, no fucks are given and you just hear a voice, “Nah let’s shoot the video, it’s over” as the artists decide that not even guns on the street are going to stop their grind.
On the Statik Selektah beat are featured Conway and Westside Gunn, two artists who signed with Eminem’s Shady Records earlier this year. Along for the ride as well is Termanology, who’s as familiar to Statik as beans are to rice. The shooting sets the tone for the grittiness of the track, as the edgy beats never let up. All three emcees gravitate to microphones as if they were born to rock them.
