There are always exceptions to any rules. Just last yeah west coast emcee One Werd released his Freecember album Alive (Fake Four, Inc.) back in November 2018. The album featured a who’s who of indie rap, boasting names like Sole, ersatz Splinter, Gajah, Sleep, and Ceschi.
The album held a heavy electronic-influenced production with raw lyricism dealing with society on varying levels but One Werd isn’t one to sit on his laurels, instead opting to share something fresh, new, and creative. This morning One Werd has released his new album, Timeless., completely self-produced and released through crowdfunding. In anticipation of the release, today he shares his new video/single “Walk Into The Ocean.”
Of the new album and single, One Werd offers:
“Walk Into The Ocean is the first single / video off of Timeless, my first release since Alive. The album and video are self-produced/ edited, and the album features Scarub and Eligh of the Living Legends. This track is a rock-tinged spoken word ode to isolation and depression, laced with a redemptive thread of hopefulness in life’s darkest moments. Although the subject matter might be grave, the process of releasing this project has been the opposite. I’m grateful to be able to do what I love with the support I’ve been given, and I’m proud to share this song and video as well.
