When your music is being compared to the likes of Brian Wilson, Neil Young, Syd Barrett, you are obviously doing something right. Singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Andy Gabbard has been hard at work recently prepping his sophomore album Plenum Castle.
Unlike the straight-forwarded fuzz pop that incorporated his debut Fluff, Gabbard’s latest features a deeper voyage into new sounds and styles. With his stunning skills in songwriting, Plenum Castle promises to be another stunner from the Dayton, Ohio musician.
This past week Gabbard released the video to the “Impossible Girl”. Here’s Gabbard thoughts regarding the single: “With ‘Impossible Girl’ I experimented with a drum machine and various keyboards and ended up creating what was, in my mind, a New Edition-esque sound. The electric bass guitar is the only guitar featured on this track. The lyrics are super cheese. I wanted it to sound like the kind of music that was played at the roller rink or at the mandatory school dances I attended in middle school when I was a kid.”
