The New Orleans based quartet, Sun Hotel, are getting ready to release their sophomore full length record, Rational Expectations on February 3 via Community Records, their first new music in two years and first full length since 2010.
Stereogum premiered the album’s first single, “Tropic Of Cancer (made me drop out of college and start working at this bookstore),” claiming the track “…captures the existential dread that fills that book [of the same name] and all other musings of the condition of the modern artist” and noting “the song does a lot with pauses, teasing out silence to draw out a mood of regret — it’s a soft and unassuming track about comparing yourself with others and constantly feeling like you’re falling short” while diving deeper into the themes of the track.
