Ahead of the release of their new album Love In Shadow on September 21, SUMAC will be touring throughout the U.S. midwest and east coast. Love In Shadow, the band’s third full-length album, delves into the innate warmth of human magnetism and the cold realities of corrupted love. The trio explore these complexities by employing minimal tools and the tactile immediacy of abstract expressionists, juxtaposing intricately composed arrangements against unbridled improvisations.
Earlier this year, the band released a collaborative album with legendary improviser Keiji Haino, and SUMAC guitarist Aaron Turner says: “While all of this material was written before our recording session with Haino, that experience further bolstered our confidence to travel further into territories free of preconceived structure and melody. Immediacy, intuition, and risk have become an increasingly important aspect of our music making.”
