Sego tour in support of EP (2015)

LA-based slacker punk duo Sego, debuted last year with their wildly inventive EP Wicket Youth via the French taste-maker label Kitsune. Now the band have signed to Dine Alone Records and will release a 7 track EP, Long Long Way From The Fringe this Friday,  September 11. The band just kicked off their U.S. tour with El Ten Eleven last night in Arizona and will hit New York, Chicago, LA and many more cities in both the U.S. and Canada in the next month.
Recently CMJ premiered the track “Townland” from the EP and  BlahBlahBlahScience featured the second single off the EP, a track titled “Fool Around.” “The L.A. twosome ably blend pop primacy and a keen feel for rhythm and song construction on “Fool Around” which we’ve been bumping on the reg,” said BSCI. Previously, Indie Shuffle premiered title track “The Fringe” calling it an “indie dance party waiting to happen.”
Sego is oft compared to DFA’s or LCD Soundsystem, though the Utah born duo play everything live with a penchant for classic instrumentation, perhaps more reminiscent of Mellow Gold era Beck or Pavement. Their stream of consciousness lyrical style often muses on the mundane in life- using word play, witticisms and slacker criticisms of the world they see around them.
Long Long Way From The Fringe was recorded in large part in the band’s Chinatown warehouse space that operates as recording studio, living quarters, underground party space and art studio.  Interview Magazine took a trip to the space last month to interview the band, check it out here. The EP will be released on September 11th. For more information and tour dates visit www.segoband.com
