Following the recent launch of new reggae, ska and soul label RareBreed Record Co., the folks at the new East Coast imprint are announcing a series of singles from prominent and rising musicians in independent music.
Beginning with flexi-disc subscription releases from the Young One featuring Anthony Raneri (Bayside), Westbound Train, Matt Embree (RX Bandits), The Slackers, Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad and more, the label is also prepping 45’s from Jesse Wagner of The Aggrolites and Vic Ruggiero (The Slackers), as well as full length albums from long-tenured and up and coming artists in the near future. From London to Tokyo, NYC to Barcelona, reggae and soul music rule the streets and clubs.
For decades, the persevering grit of Detroit and the sound systems in the ghettos of Kingston have inspired generations of music lovers who are passionate about the essence of this music. We’ve seen this music come at us in waves, taking over the suburbs and always giving voice to the working class. The romantic allure of an unlikely juxtaposition; sweet sounds harvested from cultural hardship. These sounds are the cries of hope. They are melodies that exist so current and future generations might discover a deep connection to the past and an individuality all their own. This musical movement is undeniable both aesthetically and historically. There is a ton of work to do — lots of music to be made and a soulful message to spread. For now, RareBreed Recording Company has decided to celebrate this music one track at a time.
RareBreed is the response of two music enthusiasts and collectors who want RareBreed Recording Company to become a house hold name by building a community around the music they love.
