Nick Diamonds, best known for his bands Islands and The Unicorns, released a new solo LP, City of Quartz, last month on his own Manque Music label. The album is now available to stream on Spotify & Rdio and can be purchased digitally via iTunes & eMusic. It’s also available for pre-order on vinyl.
In support of the new album, Diamonds will kick off a month-long North American tour on September 4 — see below for all upcoming dates.
City of Quartz‘s thirteen tracks range from dark and moody, with pulsing bass lines and a menacing late-night vibe (“The Sting“) to bright and upbeat, full of shimmering synths and playful melodies (“Witch Window“, “Bohemian Groove“). Though it’s Diamonds’ first solo release since 2011’s highly-praised I Am an Attic, he’s kept busy fronting Islands, playing last year’s Unicorns reunion shows with Arcade Fire, and contributing the theme and original music to the hit podcast “Serial.”
