Kurt Vile released his new EP, Back to Moon Beach, via Verve Records this past fall. Today, he expands his North American tour in support of the EP, which includes cities he’ll play for the first time in many years. After playing across the midwest and south, Vile will head east, capping off his run with a headlining performance at Virginia’s Red Wings Roots Music Festival. Deemed by Rolling Stone as one of the best guitarists of all time, Vile “incorporate[s] influences from all over music’s map, synthesizing them into his bed-headed style that’s gently, subtly virtuosic.” These guitar chops are at the forefront of his rousing live set. A full list of dates below and tickets are on sale this Friday at 10am local.
Back to Moon Beach is an EP by no one’s definition but Kurt Vile’s. Clocking in at just shy of an hour, this would be a long full-length record by most any other artist’s yardstick; but for Vile, the collection is an expression of just how deep his well of non-album material runs. Following his 2022 album, (watch my moves), Back to Moon Beach collects new songs, one-offs, covers, and newly reworked versions of beloved tracks. Shortly after the release of Back to Moon Beach, Vile performed for Austin City Limits 9th Annual Hall of Fame Honors John Prine, saluting the late legendary singer-songwriter John Prine.
