The newest horse in the Three One G Records stable, Hot Nerds is a caustic bunch of synth-blasters with a debut LP, Strategically Placed Bananas, set to hit the world over the head on March 10. The San Diego trio has offered up a new song off the album, “Stuffed Party Animals,” for your displeasure, now streaming at Brooklyn Vegan. Enjoy “Stuffed Party Animals,” here.
Like labelmates The Locust and Arab on Radar before them, Hot Nerds revels in the brutal, obnoxious, and saccharine. VICE has tagged the band with words like “spastic” and “demented” while BrooklynVegan’s Andrew Sacher pegs it as “spastic rock that owes as much to dissonant Dischord-style post-hardcore as it does to Baltimore’s experimental pop scene of the late ’00s.”
Frontman Nathan Joyner is a member of All Leather and an ex-member of Some Girls, both with Three One G Records founder (and member of The Locust, Retox, Head Wound City, et al.) Justin Pearson.
Hot Nerds’ Strategically Placed Bananas record release show goes down March 6 at Soda Bar in San Diego, with special guest Qui.
