Liquid Swords, the second solo album by Wu-Tang Clan member GZA/Genius, is one of the most acclaimed hip-hop releases of all time, with its groundbreaking martial arts film samples and iconic digital cover designed by Milestone Media’s Denys Cowan. The follow-up to his 1991 debut, Words from the Genius, GZA recorded the album in producer RZA’s Staten Island basement studio, its dark atmosphere incorporating references to chess, crime and philosophy, featuring appearances from all nine members of the Wu-Tang Clan along with Killah Priest.
Originally released in 1995, the critically acclaimed Liquid Swords has recently been certified platinum, selling over 1,000,000 copies. To commemorate its 20th anniversary, Universal Music Enterprises (UMe) is reissuing the legendary release as a two-LP vinyl set on October 23.
GZA’s new album Dark Matter, produced by composer Vangelis, will be released in the spring of 2016.
