Wisconsin’s Blessed Feathers is set to release Peaceful Beasts In An Ocean Of Weeds on October 9. The band just released a video that chronicles their time spent recording the album in Gardnier, NY. The video features Thor Harris of Swans and Shearwater, who collaborated with Blessed Feathers on their forthcoming release. The band says, “he [Thor] has an astounding sweetness and charm that made our creative process with him incredibly natural. We had no clue what to expect when he unlocked this massive contraption that Jacquelyn couldn’t even lift. The case opens, and he assembles these giant distorted vibraphones run through a Pulsar tremolo pedal. The sound was phenomenal, and Thor has a remarkable ability for improvisation, no matter the instrument.”
The band also recently teamed with up Jagjaguwar recording artist Peter Wolf Crier to record a cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Porcelain.” The track is available as an MP3 to post and share.
Blessed Feathers Peaceful Beasts In An Ocean Of Weeds will be released as hand-numbered, limited-edition digital vinyl discs. All pre-orders of the album placed before street date will receive a free copy of the new Summer/Fall 2012 issue of frontman Donivan Berube’s literary zine, Sleeping in a Torn Quilt / Dreaming of Gold.
