Black Numbers will release the final LP from Jersey City’s Banquets this coming Fall. The Spit At The Sun LP will see an official release date of October 9 and is now available for Pre-Order. The album will be the follow-up to the band’s sophomore Self-Titled LP which came out on Black Numbers in 2013.
You can hear the third single from Spit At The Sun right now. “Lucky Lighter” is premiering exclusively on Absolute Punk. “Backwash” previously premiered on Alternative Press and “Hell, Hello” previously premiered on Noisey along with an interview with the band. You can also view a video teaser for the album here.
Banquets burst onto the scene with their brilliant debut full-length, 2011’s Top Button, Bottom Shelf. The band returned in 2013 with an equally strong Self-Titled sophomore effort that continued Banquets’ straight-forward approach. Like its predecessors, the band’s bittersweet final album, Spit At The Sun, clocks in at 10 songs but sees the Jersey City band stretching their brand of tight melodic pop/punk out with their longest running effort yet. But one thing that has not changed is the band’s commitment to lean, powerful albums with absolutely no filler once again proving Banquets possess a depth that is rare to find in the genre these days. Spit At The Sun wraps a tight, yet bittersweet bow on the band’s career and hammers the truth home with a vengeance. Banquets is a band that will sorely be missed.
