Ancient Ocean, the project of Brooklyn’s J.R. Bohannon, will release his debut LP, Blood Moon, later this month on Beyond Beyond is Beyond Records. Today, he shares another taste of the album with “Absolution,” a hypnotic track that deals with the idea of absolution from sin. You can stream the track where it premiered with The Wall Street Journal, and it’s available to share via Soundcloud.

Due out on June 30th, Blood Moon features ambient soundscapes made up of swells of synth and hazy, droning instrumentation. J.R.’s first full-length after a series of EP releases, it gives him room to stretch out and fully realize his sprawling, atmospheric landscapes. Guests on the album include members of Woodsman and Destruction Unit, among others. Ancient Ocean will celebrate the release of Blood Moon with a show at Trans Pecos on 7/3, joined by Circuit Des Yeux.
