Zaq Baker Swerves Hard Into Pop Territory With “bri”

Independent synthpop artist Zaq Baker released a brand-new single “bri” recently to all streaming channels. The song celebrates true love in all its forms and showcases Baker’s foray into sparkling synthesizers and sugary melodies.

“I wrote ‘bri’ at a grand piano right when I knew I was falling in love – true love – and brought it to producer Hunter Sinclair Hawthorne to collaborate with me on the ultra-modern feeling you hear throughout the track,” Baker says. “We kept open, curious minds in using the variety of synthesizers to combine unique melodic ideas and pounding electropop beats with Hunter’s organic performance of the electric guitar. In every session we would get caught up talking about our inspirations – from Chappell Roan and Charli XCX and MUNA to Kid Cudi and Brockhampton.”

Minneapolis, Minnesota-based multi-instrumentalist Baker is a passionate writer, performer and pianist who performs in 10 bands currently. From synthpop to high-energy emo to musical theatre his endeavors range from the quirky to the desperately serious,

Zaq Baker’s original music was just featured in film How to Break a World Record (Apple TV, Amazon Prime), and he recently shared the keynote speaking and performing role at Youth Mental Health Days –a conference with over 730 attendees. Additionally, Baker’s songs have been broadcast on internationally recognized 89.3 The Current; he was the special guest on Minnesota Tonight! and he graces the cover of Tumbling Rock in a triple cover story for “bri,” Unspectacular (a novel he recently released), and an exclusive interview.
